This is an International Chili Society-sanctioned contest and all ICS contest rules will apply. Register for the Chili Cook Off at chilicookoff.com (search for Dixie Deer Classic on the left). ICS membership is required of ALL contestants. Or register at Venison Chili Cookoff Registration.
In partnership with The Butcher's Market and the International Chili Society, The Chili Cookoff is sponsored by the Wake County Wildlife Club and the proceeds will benefit Wake County Wildlife Club, 4-H, NC State Hunters for the Hungry, Wounded Warriors and more.

ALL contestants must prepare two gallons of People's Choice Chili (PC)
There are two competitions taking place at the 2020 Dixie Deer Classic:
Homestyle Chili -  Entry Fee: $55
Venison required, plus any combination of meat as chosen by the cook, plus vegetables cooked with beans, chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients. Homestyle chili may be any color and beans are required.  Cook will receive 2 lbs. of complimentary venison with registration and wristband(s) for admittance to show.
People's Choice Competition - Entry Fee $0
Patrons of the Dixie Deer Classic are invited to join in the competition by sampling all of the competing cooks venison chilis. People's Choice will also receive 2 lbs of complimentary venison. Gate will be handing out 100 wristbands for sampling so your People's Choice is much appreciated.
The chili cook off is an official International Chili Society-sanctioned event and cooks will abide by all ICSA, as well as Wake County Health and Human Services Rules and Regulations.
COOK DETAILS
  • 10X10 space provided
  • Cooks must bring their own canopy/tent, table & chairs and supplies. Tables can be provided upon request
  • Electricity can be made available if needed for $50
  • Cook will receive 2 lbs. complimentary venison with registration and wristband(s) for admittance to show
  • People's Choice Chili will also receive 2 lbs. of complimentary venison. Asking for 2 gallons of People's Choice but would encourage more if possible. Gate will be handing out 100 wristbands for sampling so your People's Choice is much appreciated.

8am - 8:30 am All Cooks Meeting -Seminar One Classroom
9am - 12pm - Time to Cook! - DDC South Gate
12pm - 2pm - People's Choice Competition - DDC South Gate - Vote for your favorite chili!
2pm - 4:30 pm - Venison Chili Cook Off Awards

Deer must be scored by 5 PM Saturday to be eligible for awards. The DDC will only score deer that were harvested in

compliance with the B&C and P&Y fair chase position statements.
