2ND ANNUAL DDC VENISON CHILI COOK OFF
In partnership with The Butcher's Market and the International Chili Society, the Dixie Deer Classic proudly presents its second Venison Chili Cookoff on Saturday, March 5, 2022! Sponsored by the Wake County Wildlife Club, proceeds from the cook off will benefit Hunters for the Hungry, 4-H, NC State undergraduate and graduate scholarships, and more.
The 2022 Contest will feature ICS sanctioned *venison* homestyle, traditional red chili, and verde chili competitions. To showcase the cook's talents to the public, all contestants will prepare two gallons of People's Choice (PC) Chili.
COMPETITION & ENTRANCE FEES
There are four chili competitions taking place at the 2022 Dixie Deer Classic:
Homestyle Chili - Entry Fee: $55
Venison required, plus any combination of meat as chosen by the cook, plus vegetables cooked with beans, chili peppers, various spices, and other ingredients. Homestyle chili may be any color and beans are required. Cooks will receive 2 lbs. of complimentary venison with registration and wristband(s) for admittance to show.
Traditional Red Chili - Entry Fee: $25
Traditional red chili is any kind of meat, or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients. Beans and non-vegetable fillers such as rice and pasta are not allowed. Preference is not given to either cut meat, ground meat, shredded meat or cubed meat.
Chili Verde - Entry Fee: $25
Verde chili is any kind of meat, or combination of meats, cooked with green chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients. Beans and non-vegetable fillers such as rice and pasta are not allowed. Preference is not given to either cut meat, ground meat, shredded meat or cubed meat.
People's Choice Competition - Required at the Dixie Deer Classic.
100 patrons of the Dixie Deer Classic will sample all of the competing cooks' venison chilis and vote for the People's Choice Competition. All cooks will also receive 2 lbs of complementary venison for the People's Choice Competition. A minimum of 2 gallons is suggested for participation.
Note all cooks participating in all of the above four competitions will have their red and verde chili entrance fees waived. All cooks participating in three of the four categories will have $25 of their entrance fees waived.
10x10 space provided
Cooks must bring their own canopy/tent, table & chairs and supplies. Additional tables can be provided upon request. It is recommended the cooks also supply their own tie-downs/weights for their tents in preparation for wind.
All cooks must supply their own fire extinguisher.
Electricity can be made available if needed for $50.
Cooks will receive 2 lbs. of complimentary venison with registration and wristband(s) for admittance to the Dixie Deer Classic show.
People's Choice Chili will also receive 2 lbs. of complimentary venison. Asking for 2 gallons of People's Choice Chili for judging, but would encourage more, if possible.

The chili cook off is an official
International Chili Society-sanctioned event and cooks will abide by all ICS, as well as Wake County Health and Human Services Rules and Regulations. ICS registration is required and can be done so at chilicookoff.com. ICS membership is required for ALL contestants. All ICS rules have been approved by the Wake County Health and Human Services Rules and Regulations.
