The Wake Country Wildlife Club is not a hunting club. It is a 501-C4 , all-volunteer, organization dedicated to Wildlife and Natural Resources Conservation and Education. What does that mean? The goal of wildlife conservation is to ensure that our valuable wildlife and natural resources will be around for future generations to enjoy and also to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness for all.

How does the Wake County Wildlife Club support Wildlife Conservation and Education?

  • • Pay for 36 kids to attend outdoor summer camps FOR FREE each year. These week-long camps offer hands-on experiences in animal identification, conservation ethics, shooting sports, fishing, boating, swimming, etc. all designed to introduce youngsters to the outdoors and help develop a lifelong appreciation for the wonders of our wildlife and natural resources.

  • Camp Canvasback

  • • Financially support Hunters for the Hungry to provide venison for 12,500 meals a year for the less fortunate.

  • • Maintain an education facility where we have educated more than 9,000 students for:

  - Hunter Education

  - Becoming an Outdoors Woman

  - Specialty Courses (Tree Stand Safety, Hunter Education Instructors, Trapping, Archery, etc.)

Our members and volunteers give their time at various events such as 4-H Summer Caps, NCWRC Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament events, Hunter Education Courses, BOW, NCWRC Air Rifle Booth, etc.

The Dixie Deer Classic is held Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the first weekend of March each year at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.  It is our only fundraiser for the year. We run the event through the dedication and devotion of our 165 members, over 200 other volunteers, sponsors, 300+ vendors and like-minded organizations.  The funds raised through ticket sales allow us to support these Wildlife Conservation and Education events and activities.
