Dixie Deer Classic Announcement 1 Apr 2014

The 2014 Dixie Deer Classic was a great success and the Wake County Wildlife Club wants to thank the over 23,000 people that attended this year. We hope everyone had a great time at the show, and visited more than one day. We also hope that the addition of the Tram Service made it more convenient for everyone to get around the NC State Fairgrounds. It was reported to us by many folks that it was a lot of fun.

This year we had over 300 kids attend classes at the Dixie Deer Classic as part of our Youth Day program on Friday. The classes ran from 10 AM until 4 PM, and were attended by a dozen or more schools. We sincerely hope that we can reach even more future outdoorsmen when we present these programs again next year.

Deer head trophy entries were about average, and the quality of heads presented was very good across the board, with a definite increase in entries by the youth of NC, and the women. We also had two bow kills that made the Boone and Crockett listing.

The results of the different events, including the deer head scoring are now posted for you to review, as well as an updated NC Whitetail Honor Roll.

We plan to start accepting applications for exhibit space for the 2015 Dixie Deer Classic around the beginning of May.

Mark your calendars, and plan to attend the 35th Annual DIXIE DEER CLASSIC, scheduled for February 27, 28, & March 1, 2015.
